We have the tools and resources to contribute to a greener audiovisual industry. We are committed to addressing the climate crisis by measuring and reducing the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our activity. At Secuoya Studios, we believe that sustainability also leads to greater efficiency and long-term value across our projects.

    Sustainable audiovisual production aims to make the creation of fiction and entertainment compatible with the responsible use of natural resources, while fostering the development of a green economy in the territories where productions take place.

Sustainable audiovisual production aims to make the creation of fiction and entertainment compatible with the preservation of natural resources, while promoting the green economy of local communities. To achieve this, it focuses on incorporating an Eco Team capable of developing a Sustainability Plan during pre-production aimed at: • Identifying and prioritising the negative impacts of each project. • Facilitating the purchase of recycled, biodegradable and locally sourced materials. • Promoting the hiring of local suppliers offering sustainable products and services. • Reducing waste generation and ensuring its proper separation and management. • Minimising impacts on biodiversity and participating in ecosystem restoration projects to offset the residual impact generated. • Measuring and offsetting the carbon footprint generated by the project. During production, the Eco Team verifies compliance with the planned sustainability measures and evaluates the actual level of commitment achieved in each project.

The audiovisual sector has the opportunity to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and align with the European Green Deal, as one of the economic sectors with the greatest economic impact worldwide. Within this framework, its commitment begins with becoming aware of and quantifying the negative impact it generates and subsequently establishing short- and medium-term reduction commitments that ensure no net loss of environmental goods and services while promoting the creation of green jobs.

Audiovisual production companies are part of a business ecosystem that must respond to the major environmental and social challenges facing the planet. To this end, they must establish long-term commitments aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and plan investments and actions that generate not only economic benefits, but also environmental and social benefits. This work is reflected in Corporate Responsibility Strategies. Their implementation is reported in the annual reports that companies provide to their shareholders and investors, as well as through the mandatory reports required under the Non-Financial Reporting Act.

The development of a production's Sustainability Plan and its implementation during filming are carried out by a team consisting of: Eco Consultant: a sustainability professional responsible for identifying and prioritising the environmental impacts of each production and selecting the measures to be included in the Sustainability Plan. They are also responsible for analysing the carbon footprint and the results achieved at the end of each shoot. Eco Manager: a professional dedicated to each production, responsible for implementing the Sustainability Plan during filming and providing advice during preproduction on sustainable purchasing and suppliers. Eco Production Assistant (Eco PA): a professional responsible for assisting on set and facilitating compliance with sustainability measures by the production teams.

Sustainability is always profitable in the medium and long term, as it involves optimising processes and using only the resources strictly necessary for each occasion. In the short term, in order to drive change in the audiovisual sector, sustainability should be understood as an investment and as an ongoing process—a journey towards continuous improvement. With each sustainable production, processes can be improved and an increasing number of criteria can be applied to reduce the impact on the planet.
