Bogotá, 2006. At Buen Pastor, a maximum-security women’s prison, Jessica has built a privileged position for herself thanks to the protection of Alex, her boyfriend, until he leaves her for a model who works for a beer brand. Stripped of the privileges she once enjoyed and with her pride wounded, she decides to enter the beauty pageant held every year among the prison’s different cellblocks, hoping to win the crown, gain visibility, and carry out a quiet revenge. But Jessica is not like the other contestants. She feels uncomfortable during posture rehearsals, wardrobe fittings, and on-camera interviews. To survive, Jessica must balance her work in the prison’s waste area with mapalé rehearsals, dresses secretly sewn in hiding, and the tense life of fragile alliances with the other women. This time, winning is not about being the best, but about learning to see the prison and her relationships with others in a different way. At Buen Pastor, the beauty pageant offers a respite from a harsh life, revealing to the inmates the true value hidden behind the makeup.
