Secuoya Studios and Fundación Princesa de Girona present ‘Generación Docentes’
The feature-length documentary premiered at CaixaForum with the presence of the production team and the young teachers who star in this committed look at the teaching vocation in rural Spain
Secuoya Studios and the Fundación Princesa de Girona presented "Generación Docentes. El documental", an original production by the Spanish content studio that follows the personal and professional journeys of five young students who, in the final stage of their university education, decide to begin their teaching careers in rural environments. The feature documentary, directed by Daniel San Román, will be available starting June 15 on the Movistar Plus+ platform.
"The result of this project is a very optimistic film that conveys the work of teachers and the importance of their role, in this case in rural areas, for the future of generations," stated director Daniel San Román during the presentation.
This project marks the first feature-length documentary produced by the Fundación Princesa de Girona in partnership with Secuoya Studios, and is part of the "Generación Docentes" program, an initiative that promotes pedagogical innovation and educational excellence through social and territorial commitment.
Sergio Lizarraga, head of the Unscripted division at Secuoya Studios, explained: "Through the protagonists, we have tried to tell many stories and reflect that passion and vocation. Our challenge was to understand and portray that emotion and that philosophy of life. It has been inspiring to listen to them, and we hope we’ve been able to capture not only their stories, but also those of everyone involved in the program."

A Vocation Forged Beyond the Conventional Classroom
For over five months, the filming team followed Marina, Nerea, Lleir, Eire, and Noa—young teaching students who took on the challenge of working as trainee teachers in rural schools across Aragón, Galicia, Castilla y León, and Extremadura. The documentary offers an intimate look at their experiences, fears, professional growth, and connection to their surroundings.
The narrative highlights the importance of education as a driver of social transformation and emphasizes the value of rural areas as privileged educational spaces. The protagonists’ testimonies are interwoven with those of their mentors, students, and communities, reflecting the two-way impact of this transformative experience.
A Production with Strong Human and Educational Value
Directed by Daniel San Román with a screenplay by Marco Fernández, the documentary was developed by the Unscripted division of Secuoya Studios. The technical team is made up of professionals with solid experience in documentary production, featuring the cinematography of Adrián Santos and editing by Paloma González and Rosa Cabrera.
The project aligns with the founding values of the Fundación Princesa de Girona, which since 2009 has worked to promote young people who stand out for their leadership, social commitment, and transformative vocation. In the words of its representatives: "This documentary is an audiovisual testament to the Foundation’s educational mission and its firm commitment to a teaching model grounded in vocation, courage, and territorial roots."
A Premiere Within the Framework of the Tour del Talento
The official premiere of the documentary was part of the Tour del Talento 2025. The event also included the graduation ceremony of the fifth cohort of the Generación Docentes program and the presentation of the Princess of Girona School Award 2024, which recognizes schools for their innovative, inclusive, and transformative work.
The event brought together institutional representatives, members of the educational community, the protagonists of the documentary, and executives from the Foundation and Secuoya Studios. The day served as a platform to highlight the program’s impact and the strategic value of collaboration between educational and audiovisual institutions.
Prior to this premiere, the feature documentary was presented by Raúl Berdonés, president of Fundación Secuoya and trustee of the Fundación Princesa de Girona, during the Tour del Talento event in Móstoles, an official event presided over by His Majesty the King, held on Monday, June 9.
"Raúl Berdonés, president of Fundación Secuoya and trustee of the Fundación Princesa de Girona, firmly believes in the transformative power of education. That is precisely why the creation of a studio like ours responds to that purpose: to generate content with real transformative power," emphasized Javier Valero, strategy director at Secuoya Content Group.
