Synopsis

13 Days of a Complex and Desperate Rescue. A family gathering that ended in tragedy. A heroic struggle led by volunteers from Spain and around the world. 13 days that shook the entire world. This is the story of the terrible fate of the Roselló family, whose lives were forever changed on the afternoon of Sunday, January 13, 2019. Their two-year-old son, Julen, fell into a prospecting well just over 20 centimeters in diameter and more than 100 meters deep, located on a private estate in the town of Totalán, Málaga. What followed was an unprecedented rescue operation, mobilizing over 300 professionals—including firefighters, engineers, geologists, and miners—while sparking an extraordinary wave of solidarity both in Spain and beyond. This three-episode documentary series, featuring exclusive and previously unseen audiovisual material, chronologically recounts those agonizing thirteen days through the testimonies of key figures: José and Victoria, Julen’s parents; Ángel García Vidal, the lead engineer of the rescue operation; Sergio Tuñón, former head of the Mining Rescue Brigade; and Nicolás Rando, a member of the Civil Guard’s Mountain Unit who ultimately recovered the child’s body, among others.
