‘El Homenaje’ was part of the program at the 29th edition of the Málaga Film Festival, with its presentation in the ‘5 Minutes’ section, a space created to showcase productions that have not yet premiered and to bring their projects closer to both the public and the industry. The series was featured on Friday, March 13, during a session where the team shared the first insights into the project, which will premiere on April 23 on SkyShowtime.
The presence of ‘El Homenaje’ at the Málaga Film Festival was represented by part of its cast, including Juana Acosta, Miriam Giovanelli, Álvaro Rico, Luisa Mayol, and Óscar de la Fuente. Joining the cast were Sergio Cánovas, director of the series and Stellarmedia; Brendan Fitzgerald, CEO of Secuoya Studios; and Juan Mayne, Head of Content at SkyShowtime.
The team introduced the story as one of power, secrets, and revenge. “The Novak family will feel familiar to all of us,” said Cánovas during the session. They also teased the themes explored in the series, driven by emotions and internal conflicts: “There is hate, passion, betrayal, love, and torment,” the cast explained.
Premiere on April 23
‘El Homenaje’ arrives on SkyShowtime on April 23 with the release of the first four episodes. The launch will be completed one week later with the premiere of the remaining four episodes.

(Secuoya Studios) and Stellarmedia, in association with SkyShowtime and in collaboration with Prime Video, the series features a cast including Eusebio Poncela, Miriam Giovanelli, Juana Acosta, Enrique Arce, Raúl Prieto, Luis Tosar, Luisa Mayol, Manu Ríos, Álvaro Rico, Ángela Molina, Óscar de la Fuente, Lola Alterio, Georgina Amorós, and Elsa Pataky.
The series is written by Javier Naya and Martín Suárez, and created by them alongside Sergio Cánovas, who also directs and serves as executive producer together with Elsa Pataky.
Synopsis
‘El Homenaje’ tells the story of Adolfo Novak, the patriarch of one of the country’s most powerful families, who gathers his relatives and close associates to celebrate his 80th birthday. Beneath the toasts and smiles lie decades of secrets, betrayals, blind loyalties, and a deep desire for revenge. The evening will spiral out of control, ultimately revealing a truth that proves far more unexpected and shocking than anyone could have imagined.
