Directed by Martín Cuervo, this feature film delivers an emotional story filled with humor and romance, written by Curro Velázquez and Benjamín Herrero.
An adaptation of the original French film Alibi.com, Coartadas follows the story of Miguel, a young entrepreneur and founder of a company that specializes in fabricating lies for its clients—people looking to escape compromising situations.
"Spanish audiences strongly identify with local comedy, but they also appreciate a sentimental touch—something with deeper emotional layers beyond just humor. That’s why we want this film to be more than just a comedy; we aim to place it within the romantic comedy genre, offering a heartfelt and entertaining story," shares director Martín Cuervo.
Coartadas boasts an outstanding Spanish cast, led by Jaime Lorente (Money Heist) and Adriana Torrebejano (Under a Volcano), alongside Leo Harlem (Superagente Makey), Llum Barrera (Supernormal), Antón Lofer (La Bandera), Ana Jara, and Paula Prendes (La Encrucijada). The film also features special appearances by Salva Reina (Cuánto me queda) and Mariam Hernández (Todos lo hacen).

Synopsis
The story follows Miguel, the owner of Coartadas, a company that creates alibis for people looking to deceive their partners or find convenient excuses to avoid certain situations.
One day, after completing a job that involved driving a hearse, Miguel accidentally hits a woman named Noelia with his car, only breaking her finger. They take her to the hospital, where they meet and quickly develop a connection. As they start dating, Miguel learns that Noelia is a judge who despises liars and frauds. To avoid conflict, he lies to her, claiming that he runs a funeral home.
Things take an unexpected turn when Miguel meets Noelia’s parents, only to discover that her father is one of his clients—a man who hired Coartadas to cover up his extramarital affairs.
