Secuoya Studios develops their new content strategy for international markets

The studio strengthens its team of executive producers with the goal of becoming a reference for talent

Secuoya Studios announces its new international expansion strategy, in which it seeks to position itself as the most talent-friendly studio in the global market. Brendan Fitzgerald, CEO of Secuoya Studios, presented on the third day of Iberseries & Platinum Industry the three executive producers who will lead this new strategy: Monica Aguirre and Sergio Canovas, who join the already announced Juan Carballo.

With the goal of increasing the reach of its fiction productions internationally, Fitzgerald explained how Secuoya Studios has organized its operation through a pod system, in which each executive producer leads a multidisciplinary team composed of executive producer, a head of development and a Fiction coordinator. "This allows us to have several production fronts running at the same time, which speeds up timelines without compromising quality".

Fitzgerald highlighted the importance of this new team: "With the addition of Mónica Aguirre and Sergio Cánovas, along with Juan Carballo, we are strengthening our creative team to encompass different styles and approaches. Each one brings a unique perspective, which allows us to have a diverse and global vision of our projects".

Diversity and talent in the new creative team

Juan Carballo, scriptwriter and producer who recently joined Secuoya Studios, pointed out the importance of the infrastructure offered by the studio: "Projects that, due to their complexity, would be difficult to develop elsewhere, find in Secuoya the necessary support to move forward. Not only in production and distribution, but also in terms of time, something crucial to create complex projects".

Monica Aguirre, founder of Black Sheep Productions, will be looking to expand the studio's presence in Latin America: "We are focused on identifying local projects with the potential to succeed globally. We want projects born in Mexico or Colombia to resonate in other territories. Secuoya has seduced me because it is one of the few production companies willing to take risks, combining great proven IPs with innovative and challenging narratives".

Sergio Cánovas, showrunner and director of Stellar Media, also joins this team, bringing a more international vision, thanks to his extensive experience in the US: "My work in English has been a natural, and now, with Secuoya, we can develop large-scale projects in this language. I am working on a psychological thriller that will take place between London and Spain, with an international team that will surprise. We can also take advantage of the tax benefits of filming in Spain".

A promising future: big projects and international expansion

Brendan Fitzgerald said that next year Secuoya Studios will start producing in English and will expand its presence in key markets such as the UK, Spain and Latin America. "We are looking for commercial content, exciting stories that connect with audiences. Once we manage to sell five or six series a year, we can start exploring other types of narratives".

Aguirre also expressed his enthusiasm for the projects underway: "We are making significant progress with stories that we are passionate about. Having the backing of a production company that dares to take risks and allows us to maintain creative freedom is unquestionable".

Fitzgerald concluded the presentation with a very clear vision for the future: "In a year, I would like Secuoya Studios to be recognized as the most talent-friendly studio in Spain".
