Secuoya Studios participates in the Serial Producers Workshop 2025

María García-Castrillón Takes Part in This Workshop Organized by Serial Eyes
The Co-Productions Director Shares Her Perspective on Creative Leadership and Best Practices

María García-Castrillón, Director of European Sales and Global Co-Productions at Secuoya Studios, took part in the Serial Producers Workshop 2025, a workshop organized by the specialized school Serial Eyes. This latest edition was held from May 12 to 15 in Berlin. Over the course of three days, the workshop brought together emerging producers, creative executives, and industry leaders from across Europe to discuss the challenges and opportunities of today’s television series landscape.

María participated virtually last Wednesday in a session focused on creative leadership and best practices, sharing the panel with prominent industry figures such as Linda Green, Sabine de Mardt, and Jeppe Gram. The session covered key aspects of current production, including co-production models, writing processes, financing strategies, and the evolving role of screenwriters.

“It was a pleasure to discuss development and production models, and especially the figure of the showrunner in European productions. It became clear that the role of writers and creators is extremely important in audiovisual productions, but the showrunner model stems from an American need that isn’t as relevant in Europe, where executive production carries more weight than is often perceived from the outside,” explained María.

This edition of the workshop embraced a refreshed format in response to the rapid changes in the audiovisual industry, under the theme: “New Voices. New Tools. New Stories.”
