Sergio Lizarraga, Director of Unscripted at Secuoya Studios, and Sandra Camós, Director of Educational Programs at the Princess of Girona Foundation, were responsible for accepting the award.
The documentary “Generación Docentes”, produced by the Unscripted division of Secuoya Studios in collaboration with the Princess of Girona Foundation, has been recognized with the Juan Pablo de Villanueva Communication Award at the 17th edition of the Magisterio Awards for Education Protagonists.
The event, held last Wednesday, December 17, at CaixaForum Madrid, was hosted by journalist Pedro Piqueras and was attended by Sergio Lizarraga, Director of Unscripted at Secuoya Studios, and Sandra Camós, Director of Educational Programs at the Princess of Girona Foundation, who accepted the award on behalf of the project.
During his acceptance speech, Sergio Lizarraga highlighted the social commitment behind the project: “As television producers, we are always looking for great stories, but thanks to the Secuoya Foundation we also have the opportunity to tell stories with added value and social purpose. When the Princess of Girona Foundation told us about ‘Generación Docentes’, it was immediately clear to us, and the result is a truly beautiful documentary.”
“I would like to thank the Magisterio Awards for this recognition, as well as Secuoya, because for us it has been a truly wonderful gift to be able to highlight the role of young teachers,” said Sandra Camós, Director of Educational Programs at the Princess of Girona Foundation, during her speech. She also emphasized the importance of teachers not only in education, but in people’s lives: “At the Foundation, we are firmly committed to supporting and fostering the development of young teachers. Teachers are the greatest treasure we have, and we must give them the recognition they deserve.”
Bringing visibility to education in rural areas
‘Generación Docentes’ tells the story of the first professional experience of five student teachers in different rural schools in Aragón, Castilla y León, Extremadura and Galicia. Through their experiences, the project highlights the importance of rural schools, the collective effort of those who sustain them, and the power of education to strengthen social cohesion in these territories.
This award recognizes the studio’s efforts in this project to give visibility to initiatives that promote education in rural areas, as well as the integration of new teachers into the workforce within this context.
Each year, the Magisterio Awards for Education Protagonists recognize the positive work of organizations, associations, professionals and companies in the field of educational development worldwide. Accordingly, this seventeenth edition of the awards has honored eleven professionals, institutions and projects for their contribution to improving education on a global scale.
