This new project by William Levy and Secuoya Studios, co-starring Maggie Civantos, will premiere in theaters on June 20 and will later be available on Netflix and RTVE.
The film, written by Martín Cuervo and Irene Niubó ('Quién es quién'), tells the love story between Mario and Dani, a pilot and a volcanologist who travel to the Canary Islands to monitor the eruption of the Garachico volcano. Although their worldviews clash from the very beginning, they soon discover a mutual attraction that’s impossible to ignore.
The cast also includes Adriana Torrebejano ('Coartadas'), Fabiola Guajardo ('The Rich Also Cry'), Elia Galera ('Zorro'), Pino Montesdeoca ('Way Down'), and Antón Lofer ('La Bandera').
In the words of its director: “It’s a story that links the countdown to a cataclysm with the journey of two lovers. The filming followed a classic American style, without losing sight of the Hispanic audience’s expectations”.
'Under a Volcano' is a love story that unfolds under the threat of a volcanic eruption. When Mario Torres, a military captain and pilot, arrives in Tenerife, the eruption seems to have subsided. Dani, an expert volcanologist, fears a violent reactivation, leading to conflict with the scientific committee overseeing the event. As the threat looms over the town of Garachico, the love and passion that sparks between Mario and Dani becomes as inevitable as any natural disaster. Once the danger is confirmed, they must fight both the volcano and their own feelings.
