'Zoom' tenth season premiere takes a look at DANA-affected land

The news programme produced by Secuoya Studios returns to À Punt on Monday 10 February at 22:45 h.

This 10th February, Secuoya Studios premieres the tenth season of the Valencian Community's top news programme. 'Zoom' returns to the small screen thanks to journalist Jose Sáez with new stories and investigations that affect our country and, in particular, the eighth largest autonomous region in Spain. Starting at 22:45h. on À Punt, viewers will be able to enjoy a new episode, this time dedicated to the Valencian lands affected by the DANA.

The report of the week: ‘Living in a flood zone’

The lives of thousands of Valencians changed radically on 29 October, when sudden heavy rains caused a DANA that took the lives of 227 people. A catastrophe that put the surface on which the lives of more than 270,000 Valencian families are built in the spotlight: a land considered floodable that they have been forced to analyse. Are the neighbours aware of the risk they were taking by living in their own homes? In fact, 15 municipalities in the province have all their properties in areas at risk, and more than 1,500 houses have become totally uninhabitable due to flooding.

'Zoom’ opens its tenth season by travelling to the areas affected by the DANA to analyse, three months after the catastrophe, the situation experienced by the areas of the affected towns, as well as their capacity to face, from now on, the heavy episodes of rain that could be coming.

Floods are part of the history of the Valencian Community. After so many cold drops in our land, have we learned or are we still making the same mistakes? The next ‘Zoom’ report will show that, after the October catastrophe, houses continue to be built in flood zones. It will also look at the possibility of banning construction in such areas, which are considered dangerous.

Has the DANA marked a before and after in Valencian urban planning? All the answers in the premiere of the tenth season of ‘Zoom’ this Monday, 10 February, from 22:45 h. on À Punt.
