David Martínez

Head of Fiction
Secuoya Studios

David Martínez Vázquez joined Secuoya Content Group in May 2020 as Head of Fiction for Secuoya Studios. Right from the outset, the department has focused on the international market, fruit of the global spirit the studio promotes, in close communication with the company’s different headquarters and offices in numerous countries, including the United States. The Galician producer and executive producer boasts a broad portfolio of productions, some of them editorial adaptations like Zorro and Montecristo, as well as projects currently in different phases of production like La Isla, La mala leche or Campamento Newton.

Leading name in Spanish fiction

Over the last twenty years, Martínez has built a long and distinguished career for himself in the audiovisual sector, working and collaborating with such well-known names in the industry as Carlos Portela, Javier Ruiz Caldera, Jaume Balagueró and Carmen Fernández Villalba, among others. He started out as producer at Filmanova, the production company from A Coruña, and at Voz Audiovisual, as managing director. He then made the leap to national production, taking over as Head of Cinema and Fiction at TVE, where he developed iconic productions like Águila Roja, which ran at antena for nine seasons, or Herederos. In 2010 he was hired by Mediaset as the company’s head of fiction, leading the production of Tierra de lobos and Ángel o demonio.
