Martín Cuervo highlights Coartadas as a blend of genres, mixing romance and comedy, with an emotional touch meant to move audiences: “We’ve managed to create a very faithful adaptation of the original French film Alibi.com, but with a lot more comedy. We believe Spanish audiences strongly connect with Spanish humor, but also appreciate when a film adds a sentimental layer — something emotionally deeper that goes beyond pure comedy. That’s why we want this movie to be not just a comedy, but a story full of emotions and feelings — and a very, very funny one.”
'Coartadas' promises to be one of this fall’s standout comedies — a film that blends humor and romance, set to win over audiences looking to laugh and feel deeply moved by a great story when it hits theaters on November 28.
Synopsis
'Coartadas' follows the life of Miguel, owner of the company Coartadas. His business creates alibis for people who want to deceive their partners or need excuses to get out of certain situations. After one job — which involves driving a hearse — Miguel accidentally hits a young woman, Noelia, with the car. She only breaks a finger, and at the hospital, the two meet and hit it off. They start dating and fall in love. Noelia tells him she’s a judge who hates liars and frauds, so Miguel lies and says he runs a funeral home. One day he meets her parents — only to discover that her father is one of his clients, a man who hired Miguel’s company to cheat on his wife.
