Secuoya Studios, Álamo Producciones Audiovisuales and A Contracorriente Films have kicked off production on their new feature film, 'Ni contigo ni sin mí'. This comedy, written and directed by María Ruiz, tells a story of love and heartbreak, using humor as the driving force.
'Ni contigo ni sin mí' features a well-known cast including Gorka Otxoa ('Machos alfa'), Adrián Lastra ('Atasco'), Cristina Maisonnave ('Sueños de libertad'), Iván Sánchez ('La mujer de mi vida'), and Manuela Vellés ('Asuntos internos'). Together, they lead a comedy about romantic disappointments and coming to terms with reality—one that invites audiences to relate and laugh with empathy.
This film, the twenty-first collaboration between the Spanish content studio and Álamo Producciones, tells the story of Ernesto, a man in his forties who has just been left by his wife and is preparing to celebrate the worst birthday of his life at his beach house. But everything takes an unexpected turn when he discovers that his neighbor’s new girlfriend is none other than his ex-wife.
The movie encourages viewers to reflect on their own ideas about relationships, breaking down clichés surrounding male and female roles. "The film offers a meeting point between the sexes and a space where audiences can laugh at themselves and their ways of engaging in relationships", says director María Ruiz.
Secuoya Studios begins filming 'Ni contigo ni sin mí' following the theatrical release of 'Bajo un volcán' and the completion of production on 'Coartadas', which is set to hit theaters this coming November.
