'The Gold', the latest project from Secuoya Studios Services

The story, produced by BBC One and Tannadice Pictures, relied on the company to carry out the filming in Spain.

Secuoya Studios continues to add titles to its list of collaborations. This time, the production company Tannadice Pictures wanted to rely on its international productions area, Secuoya Studios Services, to carry out the filming in Spain of one of its latest productions: 'The Gold'.

The producers of the original BBC One fiction, produced by Tannadice Pictures, traveled Spain last spring to shoot some of its chapters in the Peninsula. The crew of 'The Gold' ('El oro') filmed in Altea (Alicante) and in the Almería municipalities of Mojácar, Roquetas de Mar and Tabernas thanks to the efforts carried out by the Secuoya Studios Services team, led by José Maria González-Sinde. A production set in the 80s has been quite a challenge for the team.

A trip to the 80's

Finding locations that conform one hundred percent to the era and with landscapes that match was not a simple task. “In the popular opinion, the 1980s seem like a very recent era, but changes in architectural style, new color preferences, and scenery changes with major presence of technology have made it a difficult task to find the right locations for the project”, says González-Sinde.

The drama series 'The Gold' took its inspiration from the controversial case of the Brink's-Mat robbery, which occurred at the Heathrow International Trading Estate (London) at the end of 1983. A heist that ended with economic losses of 26 million pounds (current 93.9 million), including gold bars, diamonds and cash, in addition, several deaths by gunshots linked to the case. A robbery that was described as "the crime of the century" in which BBC One wanted to echo.

Directed by Lawrece Gough ('Doctor Who'), and the Oscar winner, Aneil Karia ('The Long Goodbye') (in charge of the episodes filmed in Spain), this crime drama full of intrigue and mystery will feature six chapters written by Neil Forsyth ('Guilt'). An incredible journey to the 80s that is tragic, epic and extraordinary will be available in the United States through Paramount +.

Among its main characters, this British fiction features the performances of Stefani Martini ('The Crooked House'), Jack Lowden ('Small Axe'), Hugh Bonneville ('Notting Hill'), Emun Elliott ( 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens') and Sean Gilder ('King Arthur').
