Secuoya Studios strengthens its global presence at Industry@Tallinn

María García-Castrillón, Director of Co-productions, took part in this event held within the framework of the Black Nights Film Festival

Secuoya Studios took part in Industry@Tallinn, held in Tallinn (Estonia), an event organized as part of the Black Nights Film Festival. This gathering brings together professionals from the international film industry, and this edition featured the participation of the Spanish studio through María García-Castrillón.

The session, titled 'Change Happens: How to Pivot and Thrive in an Environment of Constant Uncertainty and Disruption', brought together prominent figures from the audiovisual industry to address topics such as international co-production and project financing.

Moderated by producer Johanna Karppinen, the panel also featured producers Graham Begg, Liselott Forsman, Patrick Nebout, and producer and Act4 CEO Jonas Margeir Ingolfsson, with whom Secuoya Studios recently signed an international co-production agreement.

“Co-production is a business where adaptation and the search for new approaches are the only key to survival,” stated María García-Castrillón during the session. Her point was reinforced by the constant shifts within the industry: “The entry and exit of broadcasters, streamers and funding sources is continuous,” she noted.

The discussion served as both a boost and a reflection on how to maintain creative originality and financial viability in a sector defined by constant transformation, from changing audience habits to increasing competitive pressure.

Collaboration to strengthen fiction

Within a conversation advocating for the creation of new fiction series and stronger alliances between production companies, the recent partnership between Secuoya Studios and Act4 stood out, with both companies represented on the panel.

Jonas Margeir highlighted that joining forces with the Spanish studio significantly boosts Act4’s visibility, describing the partnership as a confidence-building step that is especially vital in today’s industry.

The alliance, announced at the end of August 2025, marks the beginning of a collaboration focused on fiction content, opening a new path for international cooperation within the sector.
